I set up a small tube feeder last week and filled it with black oil sunflower seeds. Visitors so far include (in order of appearance):
- Tufted titmouse
- White-breasted Nuthatch
- Black-capped Chickadee
- Cardinal
- Grey Squirrel (boo!)
- Carolina Wren
The cardinals (a male and female pair) are too large to eat from the feeder, but were scavenging beneath it. The Carolina Wren is beyond the bird guide’s northern boundary for their range – just one more testament to a particularly mild winter so far!
